Need help identifying a 4.7 inch projectile.
NOTE: This was the first post before i discovered the information I posted in the second post (which also includes photos of item in question).
Hello everyone,
I was hoping I could have some help with some research. I am trying to find information on other armor piercing base fuzed projectiles for either the Armstrong 4.72 inch guns that the United States purchased from the UK, or the m1906 4.7 inch gun. I am able to find only earlier styles of projectiles, like the ones in the diagram below for both guns, but I am trying to figure out what later projectiles looked like leading up to and during WW1. If anyone has any info on projectiles that are not like the ones pictured below (images, documents, etc.) please post it below it would be a great help! If there are some other obscure 4.7 inch guns from 1900 to 1920 that was in US service that I am not finding that you know of, please let me know!
Thanks!
p.s. as a side note, the 4.7 inch armstrong (in British Service) and the 4.72 inch armstrong are the same gun, 4.72 was just the designation given by the US for the gun when purchased.
