Stiehlhandgranate mit Brennznder, introduced in 1915. From what I've been able to find out, this model (with this variant of canister and the 7 second fuze) is apparently one of the first manufactured versions of the friction fuze stick grenade. It's in surprisingly good condition with most of the original field grey paint and even the paper label still intact. The handle has the remains of the lacquer that coated the paper wrap cover of the pull cord loop, and it also has the narrow recessed slot which held this loop in place. Any further information would be very welcome. I haven't been able to locate many other examples of this exact type of maker variant for comparison. |
