M1917 Stick Grenade Head.

Bullet Mick

Well-Known Member
Hello all i aquired this relic M1917 stick grenade head recently but looking around on the net it appears slightly different to others. The bottom on this one has the same pressed in shape as the M24 where as all the ones i can see online are smooth. The can is taller than a M24 can as you would expect anyone any ideas. Cheers Mick.

Hi... perhaps a very late model of can. not common,, i have an M24 with smooth bottom ( no comments please ) will strip the new paint of at some point to see if it is made from 2 differentt grens..

Regards nick

Jeeeensy forgot to mention it has the remains of a chared burnt peice of wood inside it. Could this indicate it is a late one that would have had a more effective explosive in it. I have two of the larger model stick grenades which both have wood in them which was done prior to the M1917 been introduced due to better explosives. Could this possibly be the same prior to the M24 been introduced. Cheers Mick.

Hi Mick.. yes that would be correrct,,, better filler so packed with a wooden spacer,
so yes very late model , I would be interested if you want to sell or trade it ..

Best Regards nick
