M67 - more stripping??

Pictured is a newer acquisition of mine, an M67 U.S. grenade. When I got it the color resembled a forest green moreso than olive drab. I applied stripper to the body which removes 1 layer at a time. What came off appeared to be a clear coat of sorts which took off the sheen and it is closer to olive drab. Thinking about trying to strip off another layer to see what is under it? Would like opinions on this. I guess the worst I could end up with is an M67 in need of a paint job! The top layer appears quite thin and there is no evidence to support there is anything under the layer (no ghost stenciling etc....) waddaya think....Dano

2nd strip

Well, I decided to go for it as the suspense was killing me. The darker green coat came off and is down to original coat but no stenciling. Obviously I have a little more clean up to do on it and as can be seen in photo of bottom of grenade this is definately the original finish. Now wondering, do I try to reproduce stenciling or just leave well enough alone? One thing for sure as can be evidenced on photo of bottom of grenade it is definately an M67 as it is all metal (have seen where M69's have had bottom hole filled to replicate M67). Any advice/opinions definately welcomed..Dano
