M74 container

Someone is offering me an M74 I container.
There doesn't seem to be a year embossed in the lid.

Can anyone tell me whether these were only made during WWII or postwar too? Any help appreciated.

Closer inspection answered the question. Smaller markings on it reveal it was made by BMB and dated 1941.

Would anyone know what would have been inside the M74 container?
