Mau Mau home made round

This horrible home made round is allegedly from the Mau Mau uprisings of 1952-1960,it was part of a collection i bought last year ...horrible construction and i wouldnt have liked to fire this probably more dangerous to the user

That is a huge primer in there, not sure if you would have needed much of a charge to back that up. Dont fancy being the one to shoot that round, do you know what weapon that was to be used in or was that home made as well ?

no idea what it was ment to be used with weasel ive just measured and the bullet is approx 9mm..i did a quick net search and found that the mau mau home made weapons were prone to exploding,
