Mills base plug help.

Hello gents i picked up this No5 body today but on getting it home and trying a No5 base plug in it i found it did not fit. The No5 base plug is too small so i tried a No36 base plug which fitted. Can anyone tell me why this is or have i spent my hard earned on a lemon. Cheers Mick.

Thanks for quick reply Dave just tried several other base plugs and found one that just starts to bite when almost fully home. Had another look at the grenade threads as well with my glasses on and they are not best look to be squared off . Cheers Mick. (PS after some bits to complete it base plug, filler plug and lever if anyone has any spares).

Mick . I can let you have a filler screw . As Dave said , the No5 base plug & No36 have identical thread sizes . Mike.
