Mills Markings

Hi all,

Can anyone give me an idea as to the manufactures markings RBO 8-4 on the base plug of a Mills located in Australia.

Sorry I don't have any photos at this stage as the grenade belongs to a mate.

The marking is more likely to be RBD 8-40 (or 8-41, 8-42), in which case the maker is R. B. Davies, Sydney and the date is August 1940 (or '41, '42).

I've encountered three such plugs, all dated August '40, but contracts from the British War Office were certainly placed in Australia between 1940 and 1942.
