Dodgy Dave pointed me in the direction of this at Chatham today and the other Dave (Millsbomber)
later helped me identify it as a WW2 Home Guard training Dummy Grenade.
I'd not seen on in the flesh before but vaguely remembered the shape, but couldn't place it exactly. There seems to be quite a few of these 'Home Guard' training grenades. This one looking more like a No 5 than the 36 the Home Guard would have used.
