Hi Rafail,Excellent,it does you credit,a fine piece of restoration you have done there,
Regards,
Don,

Very nice restoration.

Does it have to be deactivated under Greek law? If so, what needs to be altered?

soem more pictures of the setup on its final display transferable base.

regarding deactivation it is pretty much the same, although the law doesnt say specific details on how an item must be.
Either is pins inside, or welding, or cuts. Its not that strict, for example this one has 2 pins inside and a welded cup and firing pin is missing.
It doesnt have to also have a hole.

But to own them its much different. You must register every piece of deac you have with its serial number and you get a specific permit for each and every one of them.
Also each one must have a certificate from a gunsmith in order to have the permit from the authorities.
Also there are some regulations regarding how to store your collection if you own more than 4 deacs.
Here they treat them similar as live ones, and thus why the militaria market never grew and most of people think its difficult to be a collector here.

Its crazy... back in the 80's they sold openly to the public in the flee markets, and they had only a small deactivation, like a torch cut in the bolt and a couple more in the barrel plus welded chamber .. Vickers, Sten, Boys, Lewis, Lanchester, Piat, Enfiled, you name it!! and nowadays everything goes to the melting pot and if you have in your possession a deac you must have it registered, even if you buy it legally from another European market like Germany.

We had so much wealth in terms of variety, and in such big quantities and we missed the opportunity to be in the center of the collectors market..

Thanks for the reply.

If so many of these de-acs were sold in the 80s, some of them must still be around today. What would happen in that situation if you bought it legally at the time?

nothing it is a grey area... legally now you are not covered, but no one cares.. they have to release the owning of deacs so to open up a new market and also let the owners stop being hostages of a law that puts everything in one sack..
