hi guys . .hope you can help.
looking to identify this mortar body . .i dont think the tail section belongs to it and it has in finnish VAARATON stamped into it . .other markings are seen in photo.
it was painted black over a sand colour . .so i think its back to how it originaly was.
i was told it was russian but cant find anything about this body.mortar.jpgmarkings.jpg
thank you.
regards.Darrol

The obturator groove section looks Finnish too. So it might be a Tampella product.

hi guys. . does anyone have info on the fuze and correct tail section . .still cant find what model this is:(.
cheers. Darrol.

It might well be off the experimental range. There are drawing numbers the more common reference. Guess it is hard to impossible to come by.

Thanks . .might explain why I can't find anything about this one .
I will take some measurements just in case.
Cheers.Darrol

So maybe 80.4mm? That would be the usual so called 81mm (diameter of the bore).
yes . .looks like it to me . .but it is slightly smaller than the British 81mm mortar round.
Cheers .Darrol.
