Muzzle cover indentification

It's not a muzzle cover, it's a mop cover for a 2 pdr pull through. Known as cap, sponge, no 4.
Usually have a drawstring though and muzzle covers have a strap so I'll check the CM number and confirm either way!

I’ve had a closer look and there are four holes for a drawstring. The strap has a faint S&P maker mark and 1943 date, so it looks like the strap was added as a modification to replace a drawstring.

Artillery tools and equipment such as canvas items all had C.M prefix part numbers.
Yep, it's a no 4 sponge cap. CM 2310. The added strap is a new one on me.
