Hello,

The general shape is the same as french 75mm shrapnel (typical head screwed) and thin wall, BUT very different driving band (lower than common model 1897 and other).
Modified for other gun ?

Regards

I second what MINENAZ16 has said, apart from the drive band placement it definitely looks like a WW1 french 75.

Here's a picture of the one that I have:

Hi
It is a French 75 mm shells for the mountain artillery. The ammunition was not cartridged due weight to the backs of mules.
Regards

can you count the grooves in the driving band and meassure the length of the shell without the adapter?

Hello,

Alpini, I think this shell has no adapter but only head screwed.

Blackstone20hp, could you give the distance between base to driving band ?

This one from Schneider firm could match (if your shell si 278mm long w/o fuze)
