It was a Porton 1920s development that followed on from the No 28 Mk IV and was known by its design number DD(L)842. As you can see it used the allways fuze from the No 54. It was filled Mustard and was basically for area denial operations. The payload was insufficent for the task and further experimental work produced the 6lb Ground Bomb.
Thanks for yours. I have been looking out a few 1920s reports and am having trouble confirming the use of Mustard in the DD(L)842A grenade but certainly SK and KJ fillings were trialled. Hopefully I will find the link to Mustard and the 6lb Ground Bomb in the early 1930s.
