OK ... now here is an interesting question ... or at least it is for me.

I know the nomenclature for this grenade is the NO 68 I know the AT is Anti-Tank

What does the I/L stand for ... is it a mark I? and even then what is the L?

L means Land Service Joe. The grenade is for practice purposes and the nomenclature changed over time with the word DRILL being found in various places (Grenade, Rifle, Drill, No 68 Mark I /L/ being commonly used). The Service Mk I looked slightly different as shown in the picture.

So the nomenclature is NO 68 MK I and the rest is just a description with the L standing for land service AT standing for Anti-Tank. As well this model is a practice.

I think I have it.

Thanks,

Joe
