No5 & No36 Grenades

I have to admit that my interest is more with small arms but I do have these 2 grenades. I was wondering what the fly off lever for the No5 should look like and if the striker is the correct style. The No36 is complete but again are the fly off lever and striker correct for the grenade.

Any help would be appreciated.

The ring pull really belongs to the No5 the striker is fine, the No36 has some very mixed parts from both wars what's the markings on the center tube and lever

That's a very nice untouched No 5. As Dave says the pin and ring belongs with the No 5. The striker is right for the No 5. The No 36 had the larger standard ring.

Thanks for the info. With the det channel at 3 o'clock the markings are W at 12, 42 at 6 and Z at 9. I'd never noticed the letters on the fly off lever before, it looks like CSB or CS9, the last letter/number is very hard to see. The filling plug has S 44 1 and Z and just under the filling plug on the body it has JPS and on the body where the fly off lever sits there is a 2, a circular indent/symbol and a D.

Hope you can tell me a bit more with this info.

I'll have to have a look on my No1 and No2 grenades to see what I find and post a couple of photos when I get then out of the loft at the weekend.

Regards

It's CSB. I've got a 36 from JPS with the same lever. Mine is a 44 as well. The 2 on your grenade is just a mould / cast mark.

I bought mine from a man who said his father brought it back from Arnhem in 44 unused and kept it as a souvenir. Love the story but who knows?

As mentioned above, the pin with small ring is for the top grenade (no 5) the striker (top) is for the number 5 and is the earlier unslotted type, the lever would be specific for the no5 grenade and isn't the same as lower 36, the no 5 lever being made from 2 parts, a steel pin that sits across the top of the lever through 2 holes, and sits in the slots of the grenade under pressure from the internal Spring.
