Found this little baby today, very pleased, the flask is broken around the neck but its still very sticky, there is also a small brass ring around where the sock meets with the neck and no markings on the lever ...... Dave

Great find Dave,

I dont think I have seen one that looks so Sticky.......most appear to be dried up. The outer cover looks to be in excellent order too.
Well done on that one!!!!!!

regards Kev

Hi Dave,

That's a fantastic find. Well done:congrats:

I've been after a nice set of 74 covers for ages, so it's nice to know they are still out there. Cheers

There's more sold items than what he has for sale, OK Colin the next one i find its yours....... Dave

Good on ya Dave :top:. It's been a great trading year, with several of those hard to fill gaps being filled. A set of clam covers would be an awesome way to finish such a year. Cheers

Hi, I have one of these complete and unbroken but no sticky stuff at all. What was the composition of the 'sticky stuff'?? Thanks for any information given although I do not think I will cover it in anything! The one found is fantastic..well done!

There are some pictures of No74s being assembled with what i would call mutton cloth on the IWM site, here's one i will get round to doing one day with mutton cloth, the sticky outer i will use varnish or bees wax as its a real pain when there as sticky as my latest one,,,,,, Dave

Dave,

Always pleasing to see good quality close-up and in-focus images (of any munition). Thank you.

Tom.

Thanks Millsbomber. Great photos! I was told by a member of the auxilliaries that they used these in training and the way to throw was underarm not overarm as with Mills. The down side was if you were too close to the battledress they tended to stick to your trousers so they were not popular!!

Until i got this one i never realized just how sticky thy really were, after many years and loads of sticky back plastic i removed the globe very gingerly from one side of the covers and it was hard work trying not to break the flask any more, if it stuck to you would be in a real mess soon enough, i had just a small bit on my finger and it stuck to every thing........ Dave
