Noob Needs Help

I was involved in an estate auction last week and purchased a lot that included an artillery shell vase. I am newborn to the world of artillery and have spent much time on the net trying to learn more about the piece that I acquired with little success. Any help that the veterans would be willing to provide would be appreciated. The shell stands 7 13/16" high, the rim is 3 1/2" across and the base is 3 3/8" across. Please see attachments.

Thanks for any help that can be provided.

Appears to be 75MM. French. WW1 vintage. Somebody here will be giving more detailed, and sure, answers.
Commonly referred to as trench art.
