PD_0002.jpgWas going through old pictures and came across this one. Here is a North Korean HG we covered in 79. It was one of several on North Korean SF types who got caught in an ambush by S Korean forces. My team was called to disarm some BT's that were on the bodies. This grenade had a UZRG type fuze. When we inerted the grenade I desided to just pop the fuze. WHen the striker hit the primer it was so loud we thought the grenade was instantaneous. But 5 seconds later the detonator went off. The BTs that were on the bodies were actually rectangular sheet metal type grenades, that wer filled with ffrag pellets and cast TNT. These grenades had been glued to the soldiers web gear. When we inerted then we found the fuzes were instantaneous. They were suicide devices. the grenade pictured is a cast pot metal with embedded frag.
