Panther HE w/tracer?

hi

I have a question regarding the 7,5 cm Spgr 42 projectile. From looking at http://michaelhiske.de/

I see that it appears that this high explosive round has a tracer. I don't believe there were tracers on typical 7,5 cm Spgr 34 as used on many KWK/StuK L43/L48 weapons?

The KwK 42 manual from 1943 only shows the Spgr 42 with a tracer. However, I have had my hands on half a dozen KwK 42 Spgr 42 projectiles, and none of them had tracers. I have examined about 20 KwK 40/Pak 40 Spgr 34 projectiles, and none of them had tracers. None of the Spgr 34 projectiles in the Pak 40 or KwK 40 manuals show them equipped with tracers.

Hello,
I assume not common but I found one 7.5cm 42 with two Fes bands (unfired) fitted with a tracer in the North of France.

Thanks for the replies. I thought it odd when I saw this. In another forum, someone was saying that early 7,5 cm L24 rounds had more HE than later 7,5 cm weapons. I copied and pasted all the information that showed they all had about the same, inluding the 'Panther' weapon. That is when I noticed the tracer.

I know the Germans did have tracers on the HL/C ammunition, which makes sense. Also, the US went for tracers on HE in the Korean era weapons.
