Thanks for that Spotter nice to know everyone has a twin somewhere. Am I right in assuming the round in your pic broke open on impact but almost immediatly buried itself in the soft ground? and without air it laid dormant until dugup a bit scary when you thing about it
 
hello 25th ,yes i think youve described what may have happened ,began to burst but due a defect in the casting or some other factor it didnt burst fully and with the soft-ish ground it carried on travelling down several feet sealing itself from the air
