Pistol or rifle?

Hi, was out metal detecting in some woodland nearish a ww2 AA battery and found some(3) 10mm x 30mm rimfire rounds grouped together. Would I be correct in saying these have been fired from a pistol? Or just a hunters rifle bearing in mind this has been a woodland public footpath for years and years. (the bases are totally worn and I'm unable to read them)

They sound like 9mm flobert, which was used for ratting. A picture would confirm this.

I go with Hangarman's opinion, 9mm Rimfire, so technically neither rifle nor pistol but shotgun.
