possible - British Torpedo Gyroscope? help needed

Kev, it is 110% a torpedo gyro. I just acquired the same specimen for my collection from a Greek seller. I cannot be certain, but I believe your specimen may be from 1947? Mine is dated 1952.

Jason could you post a photo of your example when you have it?

Hey Dave,

IMHO it appears to be a British Mark VIII torpedo gyro - I have attached a couple of reference pics from the MK VIII "exploded" display torpedo at the Sydney Maritime Museum, in addition to my humble Mk VIII gyro itself which I "rediscovered" while cleaning up the mancave!

My best guess as well.

Remember the Mk VIII and later version Mk VII** were produced over a period of about 30 years from it's initial design of 1925, so there would be different versions of the gyroscope accordingly. Obviously, you don't have the complete gyroscope-assembly, just the wheel.

Dave - there is an internal gimbal assembly..............

(I remember I was searching for an exploded view /diagram of one ..... and still unable to find one (probably still "classified" like the Type 3 Impact pistol!!!))

Here's a US Mk-12 WW2 vintage one, which at least provides "something" of a reference diagram
