possible incendiary Italian

Hello

I attached this picture of a grenade strange that no one knows where. Appears in areas of Spain fought Mussolini's Italian troops.

In my humble opinion looks visually "Pettardo Offensivo" Italian of the IWW. Ask an Italian forum and was told that there was also a "Pettardo Incendiario"but nobody could tell me anything.

any ideas? some graphic?

Best regards

Ciao it is NOT a Petardo Incendiario (with one "t" ) but it is a ww2 Italian Phosphor submunition from air bomb.

Have any stamps on the body?
In my opinion this is an Italian (2kg) bomb as Francesco_Dif wrote.
What are the dimensions?
The length is 116mm and the diameter is about 70mm?

Hello:

The aircraft bomb submunitions that Italians used in Spain are the two, both Spanish manuals classified as "2kg bomb" one of "shrapnel" and other "inflammatory. " And I think this is what concerns Francesco_Dif

The shrapnel I have no measured terms, but the incendiary, with both sides measures 265x 70 mm and uses the same fuse that the shrapnel,as you can see from the photos.

Seeking photos and detailed diagrams of the fuse of the grenade the first post ...:vroam:

Best Regards

Bomba Incendiaria

Ok, I've found the info about the item: it is not the 2kg frag bomblet (used in Spain), but 1/2 Kg incendiary bomblet (in the bombs picture is the 1th on left). It was used as: incendiary/smoke handgrenade with two types of fuze 1) a 8 sec. cord fuze with match 2) a new automatic fuze (the 1th picture of Manncarc); and as air dropped bomblet with "Tipo K" air fuze (blu97 pictures). The bomblet weight is 500 gr. with 12gr of black powder primary charge and 290gr of W.P. All the info are from a 1935 italian manual about smokes materials.

Francesco, when you have time would you be so kind on give us a list of what Italian WWI grenades were still used in WWII?

The SIPE with type "Gallina" fuze (a lot of it at the Partigiani army) and maybe the petardo offensivo PO, but I'm not sure about it. The PO is present in some army manuals in 1925/1930, but from the 1935 it is not. I think it was used at the beginning of the war or for practice just in the big exercitations of the '30s. The S, MCS grenades was used in the empire war just (africa italiana) and replaced from the Mod.35 series.

SIPE bodies are not difficult to find, but I have never seen for sale the Gallina fuze, nor the two Colonial Troops grenades S and MCS.

Hello

Many thanks to Francesco_Dif and Blu97 to enlighten you some more about this "grenade" unknown in Spain.
Here in Spain only has appeared with the fuse the only Resorte tin appeared loose, without any fuse or starter. I hope that if my friend wants (God give me strength!) may one day show you the fuse to complete.

Best Regards
