projectile id please

could someone please provide a positive id on this projecctile,one of the sections at work is finding these and has asked for help...i thought it could be a 40mm m81 ap-t minus the windshield

Allan, I'm thinking you are correct that it is the 40mm AP-T minus the windscreen. It doesn't look like any 2 Pdr material that I have seen, and there just aren't many 40mm things out there.

The best identifier is the groove where the windscreen would be crimped on.

I have the same projectile, but it doesn't appear to have provisions for a wind srcreen. It has LOT 47-23143-9 1942 PC 40MM M81 and the Ordnance Corps Bomb on the driving band. I'd like to know which case to be looking for, so I'd have something to drop it into!

imaokie, I'd say that the M25 40mm casing should be the one that would be right since it has the Ord Bomb on it. Hope this helps, Bruce.
