Prussian experimental lead coated c/73

Hi again.
This little guy is in a friends collection. It's like a c/73 Prussian lead coated shell with a larger base with grooves - maybe for tying the propellant charge to it? Or maybe it also adds some speed?


I have seen the same shell in the Zitadelle Museum in Spandau - unfortunately also without any further explanation apart from that's experimental.
