Railway Workshops repair contractor monograms?

I have the following listed in my notes as Railway Workshops repair/refurbish contractors for cartridge cases - they appear on case headstamps usually along with S. scleroscope and A. annealing stamps.
With interwar and WW2 examples the monogram is also usually in a rectangular box.

LNE = London & North Eastern Railway (WW2)
M RY = Midland Railway, Derby
E RY = North Eastern Railway Workshops, Darlington
C RY = Great Central Railway, Gorton, Manchester
Y RY = Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Co.
G RY = Great Western Railway

I recently saw another stamp on an early 1905 case: H RY as per the attached photo.

Could someone confirm my existing list and also advise who "H" railway workshops was?

Thanks,

Graeme

Graeme, your list is spot on.

The monogram HRY is probably for the Highland Railway Company, Inverness - one of the smaller railway companies that was absorbed into London, Midland and Scottish in 1923. Online search provides more info.

Sorry to jump in. My dad is heavily involved in the Highland Railway society.

So this case would have been manufactured in 1905, fired during the war, collected, sent to the railway workshops to be refurbished and then on to a munitions plant to be refilled?
