RAL / paint mix code, needed for Luftwaffe Ordnance Tan ..can anyone help?

Hi,

I wondered if any members had the paint code for colour; WW2 Luftwaffe Ordnance Tan ?

I'm not sure if just the RAL code is enough or if I need a paint mix code for one of the mixing machines to have some made up here in the UK? any suggestions?

I'm looking for as good a match as I can find, so interested in others experiance on this. I need it to use on a relic drop container that I am trying to preserve, so any help would be appreciated.

Might not be a RAL - but RLM (Reichs Luftfahrt Ministerium) Some German bombs were painted RLM colours. Should you identify it as a RAL, any decent car paint supplier will be able to supply you a RAL colour.

Try getting your hands on a RAL swatch set, i have matched many a WW2 German colour using these.

Only a few German WW2 colors had RAL ( or RLM ) code, most didn't. I also have learned by experience that knowing the old RAL code doesn't necessarily help you, some RAL-numbers are no longer identified in modern mixing machines. Further most color mixers use acrylic paints or similar which then give no good surface even if the tone is correct.

Perhaps I ought to have asked what other people have used on restorations?
I am thinking the colour I need is the tan/sand colour you find sometimes on M24 Stick Grenade heads, Tellermines, Panzerfausts, but especially some of the German aircraft bombs. I dont know if they are all the same shade, and guess the colours vary quite a bit when originally used.
I have found paint for sale in the United States which looks pretty good, but nothing here in the UK.

I have ordered paints from Militariaversand Emig in Germany. At least about a year ago he sent by mail. For tan I use either Khaki ( DAK ) or Khaki ( Sptkrieg ). The first one looks quite authentic on bombs as well. At a local gun show last Sunday I also saw something similar from a Dutch company.
