Rifle Grenade-Have You Seen One?

Kilroy was Here

Well-Known Member
Here is a couple more new items I received. What is the story about the SMOOTH Diakonova rifle grenade? It is an Odd one, I have only seen the fragmented type.

Maybe this Smooth one is the "Offensive" version? Or this rifle grenade was made in a hurry and the frags were not molded in body?

Has anybody seen one like this, or have one in their collection?

Thanks, Regards, Steve

The smooth one is the earlier model. The grooves on the other one are not cast but machined.
Both are known in mint condition from other collections.

Ahhh, OK, Thanks for the info. I've never seen one smooth, or heard of the old type. Nice to learn this.
Yes, you are right, they are machined into the body. This is what I meant to say actually.

Offensive rifle grenade??????????Dano

Yes Dano, it is the Top Secret Red Army offensive rifle grenade, used for only a very short period of time, until they realized they did not need an offensive rifle grenade.

Give me a break Dano, I don't know much about the usage of rifle grenades! I do know they go pretty far, it goes boom, and hurts if you are too close to one when it does go Boom.

heres a couple of complete ones from my collection.
i worked by the bullet through system. the flash behind the bullet ignited a delay fuze which could be altered by rotating the incremented disc on the bottom. the little studs near the base of the body engaged in rifling in the discharger to give the gren some spin
cheers, paul

There are also some signal and illuminating grenades made of cardboard and wood. They are painted all black (base colored according to signal color) and have a thin wax cover.

my error

Hi Steve, No offense. I had just always thought the rifle grenade to be a purely defensive weapon. Now I have egg on face...Dano

Dano, just ask me when it is a question about rifle grenades, me buddy.:tinysmile_eyebrow_t

Mark:smile:

The signal flare's for Djakonov's mortar...

HaHa....No "Offense" I get it Dano. But why egg on your face? you are correct I think, just for defence. I just wanted to know what the smooth one was.

Our (me and my friends) version's about smooth Djakonov's grenade:

- First version: This grenade was made for the chemical charge. In 20-30 years of 20 century in RKKA were ideas use chemical weapon's. But subsequently from this idea have refused.
- Second version: It was a variation body for this grenade.

With this a smooth bodies Djakonov's grenades is very rare (in Russia too)...
I havn't official info about this now, but i think all in our arm's...

Eugene.
