Found these last year in a "British" patch, looks like they are possible collars and both maybe missing a bit at the top of the threads??
Nicely marked R/|\L Royal Laboratories but bigger than the usual collars from Spherical diaphragm balls I find.
Top diameter approx. 40mm, bottom approx. 35mm
The stepped inside I cant match properly, I've looked in David's excellent book Early British Artillery fuses and various Treatises but I cant get it...unless I'm missing something which is entirely possible! My thoughts are possible Armstrong shell collar?? or fuse part??
