Hello,
Questions about russian grenades type Djakonov :
-I assume the grenade without external fragmentation is filled HE ?
-Two different containers, specific container for each grenade or are they interchangeable ?

Hi,

From what information I have gathered re the Dyakonov grenade, there were 5 types of round.

1. Rifle fragmentation grenade
2. Daylight rifle flare grenade
3. Night-action rifle flare grenade
4. Rifle night signal grenade (flare grenade)
5. Simulated rifle grenade.

The picture from left to right appears to be:
1. Rifle fragmentation grenade
2. unknown
3. Night/day- rifle flare grenade, (cannot tell)
4. Container of unknown use., (more detail is needed as the canisters were marked re the type of grenade in it).

Containers were not, to my understanding, interchange able.

See included table and associated reference attched:

Thanks for your reply.
Since that time I learned the grenade without external frag is also HE

Thanks for that information. It must have something to do with the colour markings, which I have not found.

Hello MINENAZ16,
I Hope you can read Russian better than I do but in this document you can see that the second item in your picture is the container for the fragmentation rifle grenade. On the third and last item I don't have any info.

The last item seems to be a variant of storage container

Hi LEAFLET,
Interesting article.
My Russian is not crash hot, 1 step up from abysmal at best.

It definitely confirms that the use of the grenade launcher required a team of 2 people. One thing noted was the different sighting systems. It discusses a single elevation version but the ‘collective’ always refers to the elevation and lateral sight which is also discussed in the paper.

Thanks for posting it.
