SD2 body

I have always wanted a Butterfly Bomb and I finally started to get the bits to build one. I got a set of wings from Ben at the War & Peace show as well as a decent 41 fuse. I searched the show but couldn't find a body. I bought another two sets of wings from Ebay but still no body. I finally got one from Dave which was in good shape. I still needed more so I decided to mold it, I cast the first one this morning and it came out very nice. I know there are a lot of wings out there but no bodies so I have decided to sell them. They are hollow resin and I can make them any color you want. I will also be making one for the 41A fuse if I can find a good body. Please look in the classifieds.

Sorry, just realised I can't sell them in classifieds as I'm not a premium member so PM me if your interested

Yes, I agree looks really good, and ideal if you want to display hung up as an original body is heavy.
Cant wait to see others you do, colours etc.
regards Kev

What other colors would be good?

The main two colours were yellow and green, though others could be painted red for training or unpainted. I have also read that some were painted black, but I have yet to see an example of this on an SD2

Nice work by the way.
Kev

I'm waiting for some green pigment to arrive, hopefully should have it in a couple of days.
The cost is 18 or 15 each if you buy two or more

I just wanted to add to this thread to say I took delivery of a few of these reproduction plastic bodies that Andy has made. You're probably wondering why as I've already got a load of butterfly's, well, they're a bit of fun, I'll probably make up a few complete ones for friends using these and spare wings and may use one to display a sectioned fuze.
As they are plastic there is absolutely no way they are going to be confused with a real one but for the price they are excellent for display purposes if you don't happen to have a real one. They are hollow, have the same internal shape as a real one, the screw thread works so you can screw in a 41 fuze.
I've attached a few photos next to a real one, you can make up your mind.
I'd recommend Andy, great guy to deal with, super fast delivery and great workmanship.
Dave.

Looking at the comparison photos its clear to see what a great job Andy has done with these.
It would be near impossible to tell these from the originals without handling them.
wonderful work

regards Kev

They look great well worth the money, will you be doing the bayonet fuze version.

If I can find a good body to cast from I will make them. I have three 42A's with no home:tinysmile_angry_t:

I think the one's with a hole in the base are training models filled with tar but someone else with more experience may know for sure Regards Daryl

I tried to make green bodies but I just can't get the color right tinting the resin so I tried painting them, still not right. What paint do people use?

I took a set of wings to a company that custom mixes car paint to get the right green mixed up. Looks great.
