SD2 Bomb Casings.

I had these made by a local engineer.

Made for the bayonet type fuzes 41, 67 and 70.

Compare to the yellow original.

As they couldn't bore out the whole of the bomb casing, it makes it a bit heavier than a original.

Now I'm on the look out for various types of Butterfly wings/fuzes/spindles arms.....

and the two little German screws!

Very nice, I bet a lot of work went into these, just wondering how much it would have cost to get them cast.

Very nice, I bet a lot of work went into these, just wondering how much it would have cost to get them cast.

To be fair, it cost about 400, that includes the material, casting etc., the first one costs the most, then the others cost cheaper, as the turning machine, cutters and drills are set up for the making of the casings.

If I have more made, hopefully they'll be cheaper again.

They are heavier than a original one as they couldn't completely bore out the inside.

So, it worked out as about 75 - 85 per casing. Original ones are very hard to find now, in any condition.
In some cases they want 100 per casing (??) for badly corroded ones.... :questionmark:

It's just finding those two little screws now. :hmmmm:

So, I've got enough to last me for now
