"Shiny thing"

Sorry about the small photo (its from a mobile 'phone) but this has just been found on a table in my local. I wondered if anyone would be kind enough to identify it?

Thanks,

P.S. I do know that one of them is a ten pence coin!

Use a micrometer and measure the OD. Are you sure it is .303 British? Yours appears to be made of cupro-nickel ( silver in color). They used lots of cupro- nickel in WW1, and up to WW2. I have a few vintage MG belts of Maxim 7.62x54 Finnish made, VPT headstamped, dated 1937-1940, I kept a few can fulls because they are " silver", and the belts are an impressive 12 ft long.

It turns out it was found in a box of Nazi memorabilia discovered in a roof: this was one of the few things without a swastika.

I'll measure it.

Thanks.
