I wish I could say I knew what the milled out channel on the projectile meant, but I can't. I find it interesting that the projectile appears to be not painted, but does have stenciling. Nice specimen.

In most cases purple painted GAU-8 projectiles have been associated with, Proof or High Pressure Test rounds. I believe these rounds were over pressured to test tolerances???
