Similarities of threaded end cap on WWI and WWII stick grenades?

Bit of an obscure one... How alike are the threaded end caps fitted to the M16, M17 and M24 stick grenades?

I ask as I bought a couple at Stoneleigh. I think they’re the WWI type as they were mixed in with a load of WWI end caps. I was hoping one would work with my M24 restoration. I’ve posed one on a repro handle and as you can seen there’s a 5mm gap. Is this because the M24 ones are a different size, or is the repro handle the wrong shape? (It could be trimmed down slightly if need be) The threaded end cap is 18mm high and an M24 cap will - just - screw onto it.

Thanks,
Mark
