Small strange tin cases

Hell-o everyone

Help would be needed -what could these be?
Dimensions 20x70mm. Equipped with a cap. Stamps on the base, maybe CHP-FEB-1936 SMK III.
One is empty and the other two apparently have gravel inside. The cases had been burned.

Could they be the aluminium smoke box as fitted to HE shells? These came in aluminium or Bakelite and the shell was marked A or B in a green circle to signify which.
