Had an early start this morning to meet a fellow collector and pick up a couple of nice items for my collection:

A 20 pounder APCBC round. Projectile heavier than I expected - guess it weighs 20 pounds or so.....
The saboted round is my favourite and something I have wanted to own long before a more general interest in ammunition. Not sure if more modern saboted rounds are available to collectors but I love these type of rounds.

Finally a 30mm round from I believe the GAU8 used in the Goalkeeper CIWS rather than the A10. There is some uncertainty about the actual projectile but I think it is the saboted MPDS round.

Very nice items Andrew=an asset to any collection !
What do you know about the GAU8 case/projectile please ??

Thank you :)
The seller has suggested the 30mm is the notorious DU round. The casing is indeed marked as such, but having done some digging I am fairly certain the projectile is NOT DU but tungsten. The projectile does remove quite easily.
This is the DU round:

I also spoke to Tony Williams prior to purchase who pointed me towards the MPDS round which he has on his site:

And on Rheinmetall website:
