South African 76.2mm GT4 gun for Rooikat

76.2x610R SA for Rooikat.jpgThis is interesting because cartridge cases are either conventional brass OR semi-CCC (combustable cartridge case with a metal stub base) much like a 120 or 125mm AFV round.
Case length estimated from photos is about 610mm.
My question is :- what is the actual length and also the base diameter ?
Thanks a lot, Charley

Now that's an interesting possibility that hadn't occured to me.
Distinctive of the OTO-Melara case is the thick rim (like a Bofors) to handle the high-speed automatic loading. And the rather poor images i've seen of the GT-4 case do show quite a thick rim. So perhaps the answer is as simple as that. ..... Do we have any South African members? Or perhaps Tony Williams would know as he edits Jane's Handbook of Ammunition.

Mystery (to me!) cleared up.

GT-4 Rooikat gun info.jpgOK i have checked further and see that indeed you gentlemen were correct that this is a development of the OTO-Melara 76/62 ammunition and gun.....Thanks for your input (-:
