I understand this one is Spanish?
Is that correct?
Does anyone have any further information on it please?
Dave.

Thanks Francisco_Dif, Jim and Paul, yes I've been after this one for years even though I don't collect grenades I just like this one - my friend who has it wants to keep it for now.
Dave.

José Mena y Vieyra de Abreu was a colonel of th Spanish Army, ordnance engineer, with a lot of patents and a insteresting system to mantain the detonator outside the main charge of the grenade, in such a way that the accidental explosion of the charge is not possible.

This is the system for the argentinian grenade FMK2.

But, I never saw this grenade in Spain. And the Mena's prototypes are more conventional looking (his desings started in 1960's,I think, and this one looks as 1930's)
