I've just bought an inert Swedish 6.5 x 55 spotter round for the Carl Gustav but wondered how this would have been used, as the main weapon is too small to have it's own attached spotting rifle? guessed it might have been for use by the loader of the 2-man team in his own personal weapon to mark target for the gunner?

The CG had a sub caliber device, that looked like a round that could be loaded with the 6.5 spotting round or a gallery round (for indoor ranges). It should be noted that use of the sub caliber was pretty much the same as using a live round, it needed to be loaded the same and was fired by the normal method. The CG required no changes or equipment other than the sub cal device.

thanks for reply :)

so was the sub cal device for gunner target training only, rather than for marking a target for a 'live' round in combat, and guess it would be reusable? do you have a pic?
