Hi all,
did this last night and today.
This is the SRG-66 grenade, used as an underwater grenade/charge against divers. This Russian designed item contains a booster charge of 140g of Trotyl and functions at a depth of approx. 7-13 meters.
Before using, the top safety cap has to be removed via by-packed key which also is used to set the detonator assembly from the "safe" position to the "armed" position by turning the key. (the detonator is now lined up with the firing pin on one side and with the lead at the other side) .
During water travel the hydrostatic pressure forces the copper membrane downwards and taking the safety pin, located on top of the firing pin, also downwards against its spring pressure. As soon the safety pin travels a certain way downwards, the two firing pin locking balls can move inwards, disengaging the firing pin which is now forced against the detonator due to its coiled spring. The shockwave of the activated detonator sets off the lead and the main booster charge of the grenade.
Enjoy
