Swiss DHG14 manual (DE/FR)

The HG14 grenade was the first air-dropped projectile of the "Troupe d'aviation suisse"
The following lines come from the book "Fliegerbewaffnung" by Jürg Studer
"The Hand Grenade 1914 (HG 14) was the first hand grenade to be effectively introduced into the Swiss Army. The safety pin, attached to a 7-meter-long cord, was only removed during the throw. The HG 14 featured a percussion fuse, which only detonated properly when the grenade body hit the ground almost vertically. This, along with the hemp cords attached to the rear handle, which stabilized its flight, made it ideal for being thrown from an aircraft, where it would align itself in free fall with the grenade body facing downwards and hit the ground almost vertically. The 1914 hand grenade was only produced for a short time and there is no evidence that it was used regularly except during a few trials in 1915 by the aviation division."
