When looking at a flying projectile directly from he front or from the back they often can be seen (as the Vo becomes secondary). This is the first time time I see it being documented with an incoming projectile - likely due to the nature of the whole event.
Also machine gunners often reported that they can see tehri own projectiles flying when the sun is in the back.
