That would be interesting to find out, Gordon. The pic of the gun at Rock Island shows that it has a hefty recoil system, but I can't imagine that it would be up to a full charge M16 casing, especially since, as you pointed out, it is sitting on a modified .50 cal tripod. What ! This means that there is even more US 37mm stuff to collect, and i thought i was getting a handle on my addiction here. Look forward to seeing what you manage to find out about this gun and ammo.

Maybe used in Italy and or the Pacific in small numbers, likely as a stopgap and not really adopted, but that ammo box sure looks like there was some use. A real green M63 is not easy, f these use a 37x145 MKlllA2 case then the crimp has to match the projectile and a late date likely as well, this one's not going to be easy. Likely original rounds as found if this were the case are thought to be mismatched.
