1944, several people get trapped underground in a bunker during the D-day bombardment https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0069803/. Based on a true story, read how this ended in the closing titles of the movie, you'll be shocked. Some big names amongst the actors, I just wish the sound recording technics were better in 1973.

I had never heard of this film before.

According to the internet it is loosely based on a story of two German soldiers trapped in a bunker for six years.

They were supposedly found alive in 1951 after having been trapped underground for six years. They were said to have survived on food rations stored in the bunker.

I would like to know if there is any reliable evidence to prove that really happened.

Here is a link to an article from the St. Petersburg (Florida) times from 18th June 1951 with the the story. I forgot to add in my first post that the bunker was located in Poland.

I worked with a Pole around my age who said that there were a lot of abandoned German bunkers around his home town that were not sealed off or guarded. He said that him and his school friends never ventured very far in for fear of getting lost in the tunnels.

They were apparently also known to be hangouts for drug addicts so there was a potential danger from anyone else who could be in there.
