The old box of grenade parts

I've been looking for this box for the best part of a year, i'd given it up as lost but the other week i got lucky. I found it at the back of an out house at my parents, the last time I had it must of been 25 years ago. I would spend lots of time metal detecting at a disused ww1 and ww2 Army camp and this is the tin that the prized items went into. Lots of base plugs and springs from Mills grenades, a couple of bits from No 69, but lots of bits from those grenades from ww1 with the long rod. I dont know the name or number of them, will someone tell me. I eventually managed to find an unexploded one and came home with it, I got a right bollocking and Dad draged me and the grenade to the river to throw it in. I never came home with unexploded ordnance from then on, but you live and learn!!

i see you have some bits of 2 inch smoke shells. i have found loads of them intact on the beach at the bottom of my road

intresting collection there mark in the 3rd picture whats the item with 3 brass bands around looks like some sort of projectile

the brass parts are the bases from british rod grenades, looks like you have the parts of No20, No24 and No35 grenades.

Box of bits

I think we all have stuff from our youth scattered around. Its just remembering where we put it.

Many years ago I was given a disarmed J.H.W. mills bomb.
Its missing its base plate centre pin and spring.

Thanks for the replys, I can look up the numbers now they have been identified. The brass and steel projectile I don't know where I got it from, I think I was given it. the last pic i don't know whot it could be, found 2 of them in the same field as the grenade parts the outer is alluminium. I once started to cut one in half then caution got the better of me!!! has any one got an ID on it?

Tail fin fitting

Picture 6 is of two Brass fittings for a two inch smoke Mortar that attach the tail unit to the bomb body and the holes are where the coloured smoke would exit with the threaded section screwing into the tail fins.
