the right colour for 7,5 cm KwK 40 shell cases

I have a couple of 7,5 cm KwK 40 shell cases that i'm planning on restoring, does somebody know the correct colour?

What condition are they in? Many collectors don't like the idea of restored cases unless they are very poor.
