This British movie starring Peter O'Toole http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0069198/ is NOT a war movie proper, but is is sooo good that I hope I am allowed this indiscretion. It was definitely influenced by 1970 mega hit Jesus Christ Superstar. If you like Monty Python and Faulty Towers, you'll enjoy this one.
