Tin No 334

One of my recent purchases!
It is constructed from tin plate. 6 5/8" x 4 1/8" x 2 5/8" . There was originally a paper label on the lid, but nothing much remains. The lid was originally secured with cloth tape where as the base has a soldered tear off strip. I have looked through my paperwork but cannot find any reference to the tin, the closest I can find is the tin No 529 for .303 balestite carts and base plates http://www.bocn.co.uk/vbforum/threads/82789-Tin-No-529-Mk1?highlight=sealed+tin

Nice tin Dave,
Does it have a number stamped in the top or bottom? From your picture it looks like there is but I'm not 100%.
Cheers

Gary, there is a X stamped into the wood ant the bottom, on the lid there is no raised letters or numbers but i can just make out some markings inside the lid slightly scratched into the tin coating only visible when light is shone at a angle across the surface and the lettering is reversed

Dave the tin is a cylinder No.124 so the H&L 24 is actually just that, No.124...
